How to use IFSAF dlg lite
a tutorial
Check the Hardware/Software requirements, unpack the IFSDLGLT ZIP file
under any directory. Get a 256x256 truecolor image,
in the Windows DIB RGB encoded format, not the RLE encoded.
Optionally you could prepare another 256x256 truecolor image, that will be used for the decoding.
Now follow these steps:
- Start IFSAF.
- Click on the Encode radio button.
- Just drag'n'drop a suitable .bmp file onto the dialog box or type a name such as
lena.bmp
or press Browse to get an Open File dialog box.
- If you don't specify an Output file name, the output wil be written on the
out.ifs
file. To specify a different file name, just type
the name in the line or click browse to get a Save File dialog box.
- Click the Settings button. The defaults are quite good, but you'd better to select the (o)Predict radio button in the Isometries section of this panel.
- Click OK to close the Dialog.
- Click the Start button. A dialog with a progress bar will appear.
- Consider that the encoding is not recursive on color images since we have had some trouble with the procedure, we disabled this feature.
- On completion, a dialog box will show the time taken to complete.
Some files (.STS some statistics, .RTP the text report, .IFS the binary IFS coefficients, .BMP the collage) will be generated.
Now you can decompress the image, from the .IFS file, starting from an arbitrary other file (with same dimensions, anyway).
- Click on the Decode radio button. - The two file names will be swapped.
- Click on Browse of the Output file name, to specify the name fo the decoded image.
- If you want decode an image starting from a different image (of the same dimensions tought), just click on Settings and
then on the check box Start decoding from: and specify the file-name of the picture you want as starting point.
